Tourism Ministry to propose ending all travel restrictions from June
The Tourism and Sports Ministry plans to propose the end of all travel restrictions on June 1 if the Covid-19 situation improves.
According to Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the ministry will propose to the cabinet and Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to only require tourists entering Thailand an ATK tests on the first and fifth day of their trip from May 1 onwards.
“If the government approves [this move] and the situation improves further, the ministry will propose lifting all travel restrictions on June 1,” he said, adding that this means fully vaccinated foreign tourists would be able to enter Thailand freely.
Thailand is preparing to switch Covid-19 in the country from pandemic to endemic starting in July.
