Thailand reports six new Covid-19 cases
BANGKOK – Thailand reported six new cases of coronavirus disease in the country for August 28, all of which were imported infections involving Thai returnees and travellers from overseas, the country’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said on Friday.
The new cases who are all in quarantine now included an Ethiopian couple, three Thai nationals and an American citizen.
According to a Bangkok Post report, the 36-year old Ethiopian woman and her husband,34, arrived in Thailand on Wednesday and are here for medical reasons.
The infected Thai returnees included a 45 year-old male welder who arrived from Uzbekistan on Aug 19, a 36-year old woman who arrived from the Philippines on August 15, and a 44 year-old Thai maid who arrived from Germany last Saturday.
The 62 year-old American man who arrived on Saturday has a work permit in Thailand.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said that the six new cases were asymptomatic – patients who are infected with the coronavirus but not exhibiting any symptoms.
The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Thailand now stands at 3,410 of whom 3,237 had recovered (95%) and 115 patients remained at hospitals. The death toll remains unchanged since June 2, at 58.
