Thailand confirms first human-to-human coronavirus transmission
BANGKOK — Thailand’s Department of Disease Control confirmed Friday its first case of human-to-human transmission of the new coronavirus.
Tanarak Pipat, Deputy director-general of the Department of Disease Control, said that a Thai taxi driver got infected with the virus.
“The Thai person who got infected does not have the record of traveling to China and it is likely that he was infected from a sick traveler from China,” Tanarak said.
Apart from the unnamed taxi driver, 4 other Chinese tourists from Hubei province were infected, bringing the total figure of confirmed coronavirus cases in the kingdom to 19.
