Thailand confirms fifth coronavirus pneumonia patient
The fifth confirmed patient of coronavirus pneumonia in Thailand is a female Chinese tourist from Wuhan, who arrived in Thailand on January 21.
According to Sathit Pitutecha, Deputy Public Health Minister, the patient whom he already visited was admitted to Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok on Thursday for medical treatment in a special ward for communicable diseases.
The doctors at the hospital are administering medication to ease her symptoms, said Mr. Sathit, of the 33-year-old patient, whose name was withheld. She still has a slight fever, fatigue and a mild cough.
Meanwhile, the four other Chinese nationals have already been discharged from the hospital and have returned to China, said the report from Thai PBS World.
The report also said that the deputy public health minister asked the public to have confidence in the ability of the ministry to monitor the disease and in the treatment of patients.
The state-run Rajavithi Hospital has made preparations to accommodate infectious patients by setting aside six special rooms, complete with special gowns, gloves, face masks for medical staff and medication.
