Thai man arrested for providing fake immigration documents to foreigners
SAMUT PRAKAN — A 25-year-old Thai man has been arrested for acting as an agent providing fake immigration documents to foreigners.
A vinyl board at the Thai immigration headquarters showed the Thai man named Anan, who provided fake 90-day reports to foreigners.
According to the local news website Naew Na, the case came to light after a Myanmar national went to do a 90-day report in July and used a document that was not found in the system.
The Myanmar national admitted that his friend advised him to use an agent for his 90-day report to save time and not take a day off from work.
This led to the issuing of a warrant and Anan’s arrest at Suvarnabhumi airport.
Officials also found eight items of evidence including bogus stamps when a search of Anan’s apartment in Soi On Nut 53 was conducted.
The agent charged his clients 60 baht for 90-day reports and 300 baht for late ones. He also admitted that since June, between 300 to 400 customers had asked for his service.
