UBON RATCHATANI — Bin Bunlueritr, a well-known Thai actor and volunteer rescuer, has raised over 230 million (US$7.5 million) dollars for Ubon Ratchatani flood victims. The flood in Ubon has rendered residents needy of food and money to bounce back.
In a Facebook post, Bin said that 1,000 households today will receive donations.
“We originally planned to give out THB1,000, but so many donations came. The amount collected has reached THB231 million today and donations are still coming in,” Bin said, adding that they will still continue to accept donations.
Bin also said that national IDs and home registrations would be checked, to make sure households that were really affected receive help.
The 57-year-old Thai actor who is best known for his role in the 2000 historical epic Bang Rajan, started collecting donations on Saturday. Photos and videos of the affected areas can be seen on his Facebook along with his personal bank account number for those who wanted to help.
