The government announced that people are permitted to travel between provinces during the Songkran Festival 2022. However, people who are at-risk should take an ATK before traveling.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha signed the Centre for Covid-19 Administration (CCSA) announcement which was published in the Royal Gazette on Thursday. The announcement added that elders and those with chronic heart problems should be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 including a booster shot.

The CCSA also gave the green light to go ahead with Songkran activities in areas designated by provincial public health offices.  Pouring water on Buddha images and elders, cultural performances, music shows, and processions are permitted.

There will be a mandatory face mask, screening, and a limit on the participants in all events. Selling and alcohol consumption will also be banned in activity areas.

Water splashing is prohibited in public places outside the areas designated by provincial authorities. Face-powder daubing and foam parties are banned altogether during Songkran Festival 2022, The Nation reported.

Organizers of activities who do not follow the rules could face legal action, the CCSA warned effective 1 April.
