Samut Sakhon Governor, “Wear facemask when outside or pay huge fine”
Governors were given emergency powers to impose directives to combat the spread of COVID-19 infections. For instance, alcohol sales are banned in Sakon Nakhon, the province of Nonthaburi imposed a curfew, and Bangkok ordered stores closed after midnight.
Samut Sakhon Governor Weerasak Wichitsangsri, meanwhile, issued a new rule on Thursday that anyone not wearing a mask when outside their homes will be fined up to 20,000 baht.
Starting on Friday (April 3), the new directive will come into effect. The emergency powers invested in all governors to take action to stem the spread of the coronavirus expire at the end of April but may be extended.
