Road Deaths: Thailand No.1 in SE Asia, No. 9 globally, says NESDC

According to the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), Thailand tops the list in road deaths in Southeast Asia and number 9 in the world. Motorbikes account for the biggest cause of accidents at 36.6%.

Fifty percent (50%) of the accidents are caused by reckless driving: Cut-off overtaking, violating the speed limit and driving very close to each other.

The age group with most road deaths are from 15 to 24 years old, and 4 in 5 traffic deaths are of men (See infographics).
