READ: President Duterte’s Lenten message to Filipinos

MANILA: President Rodrigo Duterte Monday, April 10, released his Lenten message calling Filipinos to follow the example set by Jesus Christ himself.

“The Season of Lent is an occasion to reflect on the death of our Lord Jesus Christ at the Calvary,” Duterte said.

“His life is a testament to the power of selfless service and humility in the face of various trials,” he continued.

The president who is currently in the Middle East for a working visit also wished “that the virtues of kindness and benevolence that Christ exemplified serve as inspiration to aid in the plight of our less fortunate fellowmen.”

“Despite our differences as individuals, may we always choose to embody compassion as Christ has personified, President Duterte said.
