Ms. Palpallatoc talked about the recent visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in Thailand. She told Seneres and Tan about the warm reception of the Filipino community members to the president. ” President Duterte was welcomed by the 2,000 Filipinos like a rock star,” she said. “There was a lot of emotions when the president came in. We were very happy. Some of us were even crying,” she added.
OFW Quickservants United for Duterte is a volunteer group based in Thailand with an estimated members of 1,200 coming from different provinces of the kingdom. The group assists Filipinos who are in need of various assistance by coordinating to the Philippine Embassy and to different Philippine agencies for appropriate actions.
In the interview, Ms. Palpallatoc also mentioned the highlights of the president’s message. She told the program anchors about the conviction of the president to continue the war against illegal drugs, criminality and corruption. When asked about her opinion on the best part of the president’s speech, she quipped, “when the president said that he is willing to put his life at stake and the presidency itself just to end the drug problem in our country.”
Meanwhile, Seneres and Tan also mentioned about the way the President Duterte delivers his speeches. “The president is very entertaining, and he talks from his heart,” they said. “The president embraced the OFWs wholeheartedly that’s the reason there are no more “tanim bala”, opening of the baggage by the customs,” they added, referring to the president’s commendable act favoring the overseas workers.
Both hosts also commended Palpallatoc and the members of the Quickservants for their unselfish “bayanihan” spirit.
