P’lok Pinoyz celebrates 121st Independence Day
PHITSANULOK, Thailand – Overseas Filipino Workers in the Lower North of Thailand showcased the depth and breadth of genuine Filipino culture through sports, singing and dancing in commemoration of the 121st Philippine Independence Day on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

Filipinos from the provinces of Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Pichit, and Phitsanulok joined in the festivities highlighted with an OPM singing competition, impromptu terno dress-making, fashion show, Pinoy games, and dances.
P’lok Pinoyz president John Patrick Benliro said that the simple celebration is a way to connect each OFW back home.
“We may not be in the Philippines to be with our fellowmen in rendering a snappy salute to the heroes who shed their blood so we can enjoy the freedom that we have today but we are with them in spirit,” he added.
During the event, P’lok Pinoyz members expressed their delight and gratitude to the council for spearheading the affair.
“Kabibo! Tuloy ang ligaya sa Pilok Pinoy. Paminsan minsan lang pero sulit,” Mrs. Eden Olaer, an Outstanding P’lok Pinoyz awardee, said.
“Salamat sa officers for organizing the sports and Independence Day. You made everyone happy!” she added.
The results of the competitions are as follows: P’lok Pinoyz Dalagang Pilipina 2019: April Joy Amparo (Blue Team), Talentadong Pinoy: 1st: Melvin Garin and Cayene Sibugan (White Team); 2nd: Lonerzone (Blue Team) and Valentin Francisco (Yellow Team); 3rd: John Paul Ponce (Red Team).
Meanwhile, on May 12, the Palarong P’lok Pinoyz kick-started at Phibulsongkram Rajabahat University Indoor Sports Center and ran for three weekends and had its championship games at the morning of June 16.
Here are the overall results: Champion – RED TEAM; 1st Runner Up – BLUE TEAM; 2nd Runner-Up – WHITE TEAM and 3rd Runner- Up – YELLOW Team.
