Pinay OFW diagnosed with blood cancer, tested positive for COVID-19 pleads for financial help
Pinay OFW in Thailand Lourdes Capito pleaded for financial help after she was diagnosed with blood cancer and was also tested positive for COVID-19.
Capito, a volleyball player in Phuket, went to the Philippines before the pandemic started, said her colleague Diana.
“Lourdes went home to the Philippines before the COVID-19 broke out. There she was diagnosed with blood cancer and the doctor also found a tumor in her ovary. Apart from that, nagpositive rin sya sa COVID-19 so we are raising funds for her treatment,” Diana said.
Diana stated that Capito and her daughter failed to return home to Mindanao and were stuck in Manila for 5 months because of the lockdown imposed throughout the country.
She disclosed that Lourdes started bleeding last March due to the tumor on her ovary and started to have bruises as well.
“Lourdes’ laboratory test result came out in July where she was diagnosed with blood cancer,” Diana said.
When Lourdes and her daughter were able to return home to Mindanao last August, both of them were tested positive for COVID-19 after a series of swab tests, Diana added. Lourdes was then transported to Davao due to bleeding.
In order to help raise money for Lourdes’ treatment, Diana together with the Phuket Volleyball Community is organizing a Zumba fundraising event with the theme, “A Love for Lourdes; Let’s Dance, Sweat and Enjoy for a great cause.”
The affair will transpire on the 13th of September, Sunday at 4:30 pm onwards in Cherngtalay Basketball Court. Likewise, OFWs in Phuket are invited to join the said activity.

“On behalf of the volleyball community in Phuket and friends of Lourdes, I humbly ask for any financial aid for our friend. Your kindness will be continually appreciated,” Diana ended.
