Philippines vs Thailand in finals of 2022 AFF Women’s Championship
The Philippine national women’s football team is heading to the 2022 AFF Women’s championship finals after taking down defending champs Vietnam, 4-0, in the semifinals held on Friday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
It took 30 minutes before the Philippines made its first goal with a header from Hali Long, which gave the Filipinas a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Tahnai Annis and Sarina Bolden shone in the match’s second half, with Annis getting the second goal from a penalty kick at the 51′ mark. A header by Sarina Bolden on an Annis corner tripled the Filipinas’ goal at the 61′ mark.
At the 71′ mark, Bolden scored another goal and gave the Filipinas its fourth goal, which sealed the win.
The Philippines will face Thailand in the finals on Sunday, 7:30 p.m., at the same venue.
During their match in the group stage, the Filipinas fell short against the Thais, 1-0.
This year is going to be the World Cup-bound Filipinas’ first finals appearance in the AFF Women’s Championship.
