Philippines reports 11 new cases of Covid-19, total jumps to 35
MANILA — The Philippines confirmed 11 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, March 10, which brings the total number in the country to 35.
UPDATE: The Department of Health had to backtrack on its latest figures after announcing earlier in the day 11 new confirmed cases.
Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire apologized for the mistake and clarified that the Philippines has 33 confirmed Covid-19 cases and not 35 as earlier reported.
“We’d like to apologize for that… There was this post coming from the health emergency meeting… wherein they initially reported the 35 cases,” she said. “It was supposed to be DOH initially issuing out these kinds of numbers.”
The Philippines has a record of 33 total cases — 2 have recovered — with 1 death.
