Philippine Airlines suspends int’l flights due to inbound travel restrictions

Philippine Airlines announced on Wednesday the cancellation of its international flights due to the government’s suspension of inbound travel.

“The Philippine government has limited the maximum number of passenger arrivals from international flights to 1,500 a day for all airlines combined into Manila for the period beginning 8:00 AM of March 18 up to 8:00 AM of April 19; and has temporarily suspended the entry of Foreign Nationals and Returning Overseas Filipinos who are non-OFWs beginning 12:01AM of March 20 up to April 19, 2021,” said the country’s flag carrier on their Facebook page.

In a statement, the airline management said these flights are suspended:

March 18

  • PR 658/659 – Manila-Dubai-Manila
  • PR 684/685 -Manila-Doha-Manila
  • PR 5682/5683 – Manila-Dammam-Manila
  • PR 116 – Manila-Vancouver
  • PR 102/103 – Manila-Los Angeles-Manila

March 19

  • PR 117 – Vancouver-Manila
  • PR 507/508 – Manila-Singapore-Manila
  • PR 100/101 – Manila-Honolulu-Manila
  • PR 102/103 – Manila-Los Angeles-Manila
  • PR 126 – Manila-New York
  • PR 300/301 – Manila-Hong Kong-Manila
  • PR 427/428 – Manila-Tokyo (Narita)-Manila
  • PR 425/426 – Manila-Fukuoka-Manila
  • PR 411/412 – Manila-Osaka (Kansai)-Manila

Philippine Airlines said it will also announce more flight cancellations in the next few days that are covered by the government directive on inbound travelers.

From March 20 to April 19, the following travelers are allowed to enter the country:

  • Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)
  • Holders of 9(e) visas
  • Passengers on medical repatriation and their escort/s duly endorsed by the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs or the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration
  • Distressed Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) duly endorsed by the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs
  • Emergency, humanitarian and other cases approved by the National Task Force on COVID-19

If a traveler is prohibited from arriving in the Philippines from March 20 to April 19, PAL advised them to avail the following options:

  1. Rebook on the flight of your choice (on the same cabin class) with rebooking service fees waived; or
  2. Refund your ticket cost; or
  3. Convert your ticket into a travel voucher for future use.
