Pattaya Mayor advises tourists to wear masks as haze hits the city
PATTAYA, Chonburi — Pattaya Mayor Sontaya Khunpluem advised both residents and tourists to wear masks when going outdoors to protect themselves from the harmful particles in the air.
The mayor also ordered all his officials to be on full alert.
The popular seaside resort is one of the many areas that is hit by unhealthy air quality – showing low visibility, particularly in the mornings and evenings.
Photos shared by 77kaoded, a Thai news website, showed a hazy Pattaya which, according to officials, exceeded the safety standard of 50 microgrammes per cubic metre.
Several places in the country where air quality is considered unhealthy on Air Visual website include: Bangkok, Si Racha and Nan.
