OFW in Dubai dies due to a type of coronavirus
DUBAI — A Filipina household service worker in Dubai, United Arab Emirates died on Sunday, February 2, due to a type of coronavirus.
In a report from Super Radyo dzBB on Thursday, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III confirmed the death of the Filipina.
Secretary Bello didn’t mention the name of the deceased Pinay who hailed from General Santos City.
It’s not yet clear whether the 28-year-old OFW was infected with Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), or the novel coronavirus (nCoV) that originated in Wuhan, China.
According to the report, Bello said “coronavirus” was stated on the death record of the OFW.
The Philippine government is now assisting the brother and the child of the deceased OFW to fly them to Dubai where her remains will be cremated.
