New round of overseas voter registration starts December 16
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) through the Philippine Embassy in Thailand announced on Monday, December 9, it will hold another round of voter registration beginning December 16, 2019.
In a post on its official Facebook Page, the Philippine Embassy in Thailand invites non-registered OFW’s to visit the embassy on weekdays with their Philippine passport and a photocopy of the passport bio page.
“Overseas voter registration begins on 16 December 2019 to those in Thailand who are not yet registered as a Filipino overseas absentee voter or those who have not yet voted in any Philippine national election,” the post stated.
The latest round of registration is for the next general Philippine elections including presidential and vice-presidential posts scheduled to be held on May 9, 2022.
In the 2019 midterm elections, a total of 8,531 Thailand-based voters were registered.
OFW’s in Thailand will have until September 30, 2021 to avail of the overseas absentee voter registration in the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.
