“No military coup. Don’t panic,” Thai military assures citizens
Netizens were driven into a frenzy after a clip of military convoy was spotted heading north of Bangkok toward Lopburi province. The clip also caused social media to be abuzz of a possible military coup.
But the military issued a statement on Sunday, putting citizens at ease that Thailand won’t see another military coup.
What people thought to be something of concern was actually just part of an “exercises”.
The Thai military is preparing for the annual Cobra Gold joint military exercises with the United States and other military allies, said Maj. Gen. Piyaphong Klinphan, commander of the 2nd Infantry Brigade.
