MANILA, Philippines– Maureen Wroblewitz, the model branded by other contestants in Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 as the “pretty face but no skills” just became the first Filipina to be hailed winner of  the popular modeling search in Asia beating Malaysia’s Shikin Gomez and Vietnam’s Minh Tu Nguyen.

For winning Asia’s Next Top Model title, Wroblewitz took home a brand new Subaru car, contract with London-based Storm Model Management and an upcoming cover and a fashion spread in Nylon Singapore.

At the final episode aired on Wednesday, Jun 28, the Top 3 contestants were featured in their final photo shoot wearing costumes that represented their country. Wroblewitz, donning a sparkling white mestiza gown accessorized with pearls, impressed the panel of judges with her performance.

“That image is exactly what I wanted to see from you at the end of this competition,” Cindy Bishop, Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 model mentor, judge, and host, told Wroblewitz.

“You delivered that quiet confidence, which showed that you have been soaking up everything we’ve been telling you, that you’ve been taking everything in and just completely laid it all out for us. And I am so, so happy to see that,” she added.

Yu Tsai, the show’s creative director and in-house photographer, said “You were giving me Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. You were giving me Madonna from Material Girls. You were giving me Runaway Bride. I love all those stories that you created for me.”

“I never care about the pretty one as we labelled you. I never cared whether you’re the youngest one or you’re the shortest one among the batch because truthfully in modeling today non of those labels would matter to me. Somehow, I knew you will be here,” he further commented.

The three finalists also had to walk the runway for the show one last time, representing “goddesses that had come to life” donning creations of secret Judge Xiao Qing.

Sitting in the panel of judges for the final episode were Ruby Adler, a model agent from Storm Model Management; Adele Chan, the Editor-in-Chief of Nylon Singapore magazine; Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015; Yu Tsai, international photographer and the show’s creative director; and Cindy Bishop, professional model and the show’s host.
