Up in the high mountain of Phu Ruea District in the province of Loei lies the Hello Kitty-inspired resort called Kitty Resort Phu Ruea. The resort celebrates everything girlie with a pink pop. You will see driveways, coffee shop, rooms, even pillow cases and bed sheets in pink!

There is also a garden with flowers that are mostly pink, as well as a couple of white bicycles; a pink windmill; a gift shop; and two pink, fancy sports cars. The bathroom has a Hello Kitty-shaped mirrors with pink lining, too!

Staying at this starts at 1,500 baht per night for tents to 2,500 baht for cabins. But if this is beyond your means and what you want is just to take a selfie or two, an entrance fee of 20 baht will fulfill your heart’s desire.

You may probably wonder why the name of the resort is just Kitty Resort and not Hello Kitty; that is because the owner doesn’t seem to have a license from Sanrio, a Japanese company that designs, licenses and produces products focusing on the kawaii (cute) segment of Japanese popular culture which includes Hello Kitty. But is there a copyright violation?

“The resort’s name is ‘Kitty Resort Phu Ruea’, and we do not sell products from the brand [Sanrio] at the resort. Besides, Hello Kitty did not register for a resort copyright, and I do not intend to sell the resort, so this should not be considered a violation,” said the owner in a report from Post Today dated 5 January 2015.

Whatever the case may be, the vibrant pink color of Kitty Resort Phu Ruea and the lush mountain that serve as the backdrop act as a source of a fairytale feel.

Here’s an embedded map from Google which you can use when you navigate your way to the resort. You can also visit their Facebook page here.
