Hailstorm in Pai district creates a snowlike sight
Photos of the snowlike sight in Mae Hong Son’s Pai district went viral on Sunday.
Many people enjoyed looking at the images of the frosty scenery of Pai district. However, according to Hua Mae Mueang village chief Suwin Piapha, the hailstorm on Sunday left many homes badly damaged.
A clash of hot and cold air masses in upper Thailand caused the thunderstorms, gusty winds, and hail, said Noppadon Maktong, spokesman for the Foundation of National Disaster Warning Council.
“Thailand is a tropical country, so there is very little chance of snow,” he said.
The Thai Meteorological Department announced on Friday that summer storms would sweep across most of the country from Saturday to Monday.
