Foreigners arrested – because Thais said they have poor hygiene
Poor hygiene irked Thais on a Bangkok – Chian Yai via Thong Song tour bus. Therefore, when the bus stopped at a checkpoint, the Thais expressed their dissatisfaction and complained to the police that around 10 passengers whom they suspected to be foreigners were stinking the bus out.
The immigration in Chumpon found that the 13 passengers traveling among local passengers were illegal workers from Myanmar.
In a report from Sanook, the checkpoint was set up in the night between KM markers 451 – 452 on Petchkasem Road in Tha Se district.
It was revealed that the bus started the journey from the Southern Bus terminal earlier on Saturday. A man who the drivers called “O”, contacted them and asked them to get the Burmese nationals from Samut Sakhon and to give them a ride to Surat Thani.
Both the drivers who work for ST Sri Suthep Tour were apprehended by the authorities after confessing to having been paid 1,200 baht for transporting the illegal workers.
The arrest of the Myanmar nationals was a consequence of not giving themselves good personal hygiene, Sanook said.
