Flight delays warning for Don Mueang from today to Friday
Do you have a flight leaving or arriving at Don Mueang airport any time from today to Friday? Please be advised that due to runway maintenance, there will be 30-45 minute-flight delays for those arriving and departing Don Mueang, said Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aerothai).
The Airports of Thailand Plc would close a 200-metre-long section at the northern end of the airport’s western runway from Jan 29 to Feb 1, Aerothai president Somnuk Rongthong said Monday. During the maintenance period, the usable distance of the runway would shrink to 3,000 meters.
As a result, the airport’s flight-handling capability would fall by about 10%, from 52 flights to 48 flights an hour, Bangkok Post reported.
Mr. Somnuk also said that 30-45 minutes delay is expected during rush hours at the airport, but it could possibly be longer if there were other negative factors such as bad weather or emergency runway damage.
During the maintenance period, the western runway would be used only for departures, he said.
