Filipino visual artist shines in Bangkok
BANGKOK: Bangkok based Filipino visual artist, Josh Roxas is one of the nine artists to be featured in Kalwit Studio and Gallery’s “From the Inside Exhibition’ on Friday, March 31, 2017 in Bangkok.
According to the official event Facebook page, the exhibition will require the 9 artists to showcase art pieces using contemporary techniques and aesthetics regardless of restrictions or rules.
“Today’s art exhibitions are designed to reflect different aspect of social, political, cultural, and behavioral issues in order to explicitly discuss the outside world and its context. However, they attempt to allow artists to have freedom of speech expressed in the most direct and internal manner. Each artist’s perspective may either endorse or crash with one another. Majority of those works, as a result, are repetitive and overlapping in nature, which reinforces the unity of their internal thinking process,” the post stated.
In an interview with Pinoy Legacy, Josh said he feels happy and honored to be part of this show.
“I feel excited and proud of my work . At last a real gallery is now representing my work. I only used to display my works in hotels but this time a gallery called me in for this show. Kalwit Gallery is the first official gallery that accepted my art…hopefully it will lead to more opportunities. It is not easy to be represented by a gallery,” Josh said.
An award-winning Filipino visual artist, Josh’s style is more on assemblage, oil and acrylic paintings. Although known for his body painting masterpieces, Josh has also gained recognition in live painting exhibitions. On February 25, 2017, Josh staged his first one-man live art demonstration show of the year at Pullman Hotels and Resorts – Bangkok Grande Sukhumvit dubbed as ‘Colored Cities’.
For Josh, art is something he wants others to see and feel. “It doesn’t matter how you create it. As long as it has the ability to convey what you want. The more you put details on it, the more intense its message is…” he said.
Apart from the upcoming show at Kalwit Studio, Josh Roxas has also an ongoing Art exhibitions at Metropole Hotel, Pullman Grande-Sukumvhit and at the Metropolis Luxury Offices.
