The Filipino teacher who was in the video pulling his student’s arm and pushing him out of the room surrendered to Nonthaburi Immigration on 28 September 2020.

According to a report from local media Khaosod, Teacher Marvin arrived in Thailand on a tourist visa on 26 January 2020. He was on visa amnesty when he was hired as an English teacher at Sarasas Wited Ratchaphruek School and began teaching under probation on 26 July 2020.

Khaosod also reported that the 25-year-old teacher receives a 20,000 baht salary without a working permit.

Teacher Marvin claimed he had no intention to harm the student. The boy had snot and it messed up his face. He pointed his finger to the student and told him to go to the toilet. The student did not comply so he used his hand to pull the student from his chair and commanded him to go to the toilet.

When Khaosod reporter asked Teacher Marvin as to why he didn’t do anything when Teacher Joom abused the students captured in another clip, he responded that he already asked Teacher Joom about it but was told that it is a common thing in Thai school. He didn’t ask further questions since he’s a newbie.

The deputy director of Nonthaburi Immigration said “Marvin” voluntarily surrendered and admitted he was the man in the clip. He also admitted that he teaches English at the school without a work permit and uses a wrong type of visa. The police said they will take legal action.

There are 65 Filipino teachers at Sarasas Wited Ratchaphruek School, with one teacher each from Korea, Russia, Ireland, Pakistan, Colombia, South Africa, Egypt, and Australia.

All foreign teachers have a work permit except for Teacher Marvin.

NOTE: Teacher Joom, the Thai teacher in another video clip abusing the students, and Teacher Marvin, work at the same school.
