Filipino surfers win gold and bronze in Phuket Beach Festival 2022

Filipino surfers shone in the Phuket Beach Festival 2022 held in Thailand on Aug. 25-28 after bagging gold and bronze medals.

Sea Games gold medalist (2019) John Mark Tokong clinched the gold in the men’s shortboard competition after beating Indonesian bet Nyoman Satria Mukti.

Tokong garnered 15.30 points, only 1.9 points ahead of Mukti in the final.

Roger Casugay, a Sea Games gold medalist as well in 2019, took home the bronze in the men’s longboard event.

The podium finish of the Filipino surfing sensations proved time and again that Filipino surfers can compete with the best surfers in the world.

Phuket Beach Festival 2022 which was sanctioned by the Asian Surf Cooperative, was participated by surfers from the 12 countries in the Asia Pacific region namely host Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia, among others.
