Filipino national drowns himself in Chao Phraya River
Samut Prakan, Thailand – A Filipino national jumped off the boat into the Chao Phraya River in Phra Pradaeng district Saturday night. His body is still missing, police said.
A rescue team arrived at Chao Phraya River in Phra Pradaeng district to retrieve the body of Silvester Kristoffer Depusoy after Samrong Tai police was informed of the incident a little past midnight.
One of the crew members of the cargo vessel Glory Marugame, told police that he saw Depusoy taking his shirt, pants, and a pair of sandals before jumping off the boat.
Crew members threw a life bouy to him, but the 25-year-old man didn’t take it. He dissapeared right before their eyes after lifting both hands over his head.
The crew immediately informed the boat skipper, who quickly called the marine police for help, Bangkok Post reported.
According to the crew, the Filipino national who was believed to have drowned, worked as a boat waiter and nephew of the boat owner. They said they are clueless as to what made him end his life.
The search was not successful because of the strong water currents.
