In an interview with The Pinoy Legacy, Dayne Aquino, a close friend and distant relative of Ostonal, revealed that Ostonal died of pneumonia. “Three days before he (Ostonal) died, he went to the hospital to have himself checked. However, he refused to be admitted due to expenses that may be incurred to him.”
“Last I called, Joey said he was okay. But I was informed by my friend who called me that Joey died alone in his apartment. He said he called Joey to check on him, but a Thai teacher answered Joey’s phone and told my friend that Joey is dead,” Aquino added.
Ostonal’s remains are currently at Surat Thani Hospital.
Aquino also said that Ostonal’s family already knew of what happened to him. The family members are asking for financial donations so they can arrange the repatriation of his remains to the Philippines.
