Pinoy teacher with Great Heart receives Princess Maha Chakri Award 2019
BANGKOK — A Filipino teacher from Cotabato City is one of the remarkable teachers with “Great Heart” from eleven Southeast Asian countries who have been selected as the Princess Maha Chakri Award recipient for 2019.
Today, 15 October 2019, Mr. Sadat B. Minandang of Amirol Elementary School in Cotabato City is at Centara Grand Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand to receive the prestigious award from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Short personal information of Mr. Sadat Minandang from PMCWF website reads: “Mr. Sadat Minandang has served as a backbone of the school, mentoring teachers and performing as a role model for his students. He has been instrumental in the establishment of the program such as Faith and involved in raising awareness of Anti Child Trafficking for the peace and order in the community where the school is located.”
The eleven recipients of the award have been selected and nominated by the Ministry of Education of their respective countries and for Thailand, the PMCWF.
Minandang will receive $10,000 from the award which, he said, will be used to continue his different way of teaching called TulaKaalaman — his way of moving around the community to teach using a cart (kariton).
About Princess Maha Chakri Award (PMCA)
The Princess Maha Chakri Award is given to outstanding teachers from 11 countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN + Timor Leste), who have made an impact on students’ lives. The Award was set up in 2015 in recognition of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhron’s contribution and devotion to teachers and education.
The Princess Maha Chakri Award is given once every two years to recognize teachers who change students’ lives, particularly the disadvantaged groups. It aims to promote excellent practices to inspire and serve as examples for other teachers in Southeast Asia. The unique and most important aspects of the award are activities after receiving the Award which will enable these teachers to expand their practices to improve themselves and help other teachers in the region.
