DOH verifying alleged second Covid-19 death in the Philippines
MANILA — The Department of Health (DOH) is verifying reports that a second coronavirus (Covid-19) patient in the country has died.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III stated in an interview on Tuesday that he received unverified reports that a foreign (American) national with pre-existing conditions died before dawn.
“I’m trying to validate that,” Duque said. “I was told about it this morning.”
The Philippines reported 4 new cases last night (March 9), bringing the total number to 24.
If confirmed, this would be the second fatality due to the virus following the death of a male Chinese tourist on February 1.
