KRABI: An attempt to take underwater photos ended tragically when a Chinese tourist drowned on Tuesday, April 4, at a Krabi national park.

Wang Xitiang, 31, was recovered at around 4 pm by Than Bok Khorani National Park safety personnel. She was given a CPR before she was moved to Krabi Hospital.

The unnamed partner of Ms. Xitiang told rescuers that she went on to take underwater photos and insisted on not wearing a life jacket while he had gone to use the toilet.

“I heard shouts for help and found Ms Xitiang barely conscious in two meters of water,” a lifeguard told the Phuket Gazette.

Authorities in Krabi are still investigating to further determine the cause of death.
