The Filipino-Australian won the country’s 4th Miss Universe crown in Bangkok, Thailand in December last year, following strong performances during the preliminary and the final rounds of the pageant.
Gray, who was also seated as a member of the panel of judges, was given a moment on stage where she was greeted with cheers from her adoring Thai pageant fans right before the proclamation of winners.
In a brief interview with the pageant host, Gray revealed she was excited and happy to be back in Thailand where she was announced the winner of Miss Universe 2018.
“I have been counting down the days since I get to come back to the beautiful country of Thailand because it is so so special for me because it was here that I was crowned your Miss Universe of 2018,” she said.
“So being back in Thailand, seeing all of its beautiful people, I’m so so happy,” she added.
Aside from expressing her delight to welcome the queen from Thailand to the sisterhood of Miss Universe, Gray also shared some pieces of advise and stressed that it is important to find pleasure in the experience and discover the reason for taking the job of a Miss Universe.
“The advise that I would give our new Miss Universe Thailand 2019 would be to enjoy the journey. Your life will change in an instant and you really need to be present, enjoy it and find your purpose in it – why are you doing this. And I know that you will raise the Thailand flag high.”
