Canada to open more jobs for Filipino workers; salary from P80k to P300k
MANILA: Canada is going to open more job opportunities for Filipino workers with 80k to 300k monthly salary.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III assigned the responsible agency to speed up the process of reviewing the things needed to start sending Filipinos to work in Canada.
Bello announced in a statement following his signing of a joint communique together with officials of Yukon, Canada for the deployment of 2,000 skilled OFWs to Canada every year.
“The joint communique in Yukon, Canada contains their request for 2,000 skilled workers every year,” said the secretary who visiting Canada last month.
The Filipinos there are prosperous and very happy. I spoke to each of them, and all of them said they are happy and well taken care of,” the secretary added.
Around P80,000 to P300,000 pesos will be offered as salary to Filipinos for jobs such as heavy equipment operator, nurse, cook, chef, engineer, caregiver, call center agent, etc.
OFWs can also bring their families to live in Canada.
“Canadians prefer Filipino workers because of their work quality and diligence. The family bond is also important for them, that is why they are encouraging the workers to bring their families to Canada,” Bello said.
Interested applicants should be fluent in English, have the appropriate job degree with enough training, and physically and mentally fit.
After the signing of the agreement, Bello assigned Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Administrator Bernard Oliala to accelerate the deployment of workers in Yukon, as well as the processing of Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC( for workers who are going to work in Vancouver and Toronto.
The secretary also said that he wanted the officials of Yukon to sign a bilateral agreement to make the deployment of OFWs in Yukon, Canada formal. However, Bellow requested that they visit the Philippines for the purpose of signing the agreement.
