Police arrested more than 75 foreigners in Soi Cowboy

Bangkok – Police conducted what they call “Operation Black Eagle” on Wednesday morning and arrested more than 70 foreigners in Soi Cowboy, a red light district in the capital Bangkok.

The foreigners were arrested at around 1am in Soi Cowboy, and were charged with overstaying their visas and illegally entering and working in Thailand.

According to a Khaosod English report, the arrested foreigners are from Uganda, Sudan, Bangladesh, India and Cambodia.

Maj. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, Tourist Police Deputy Commissioner, said most foreigners came to Thailand holding tourist visas, and illegally worked as English teachers, missionaries or soccer players.
