Thailand records 4 more Covid-19 infections
BANGKOK — Health officials announced that four more people in Thailand were tested positive for coronavirus — two of them are Thai nationals, an Italian, and a Chinese man. The four new cases bring the total number of infections in Thailand to 47.
According to a Khaosod English report, Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, head of the Disease Control Department, said that two of those infected traveled from Italy — a 29-year-old Italian man and a 42-year-old Thai man. The other two include a 22-year-old Chinese man and a 20-year-old Thai man who flew to Thailand from Iran.
“It appeared to be the first cases of coronavirus in Thailand among travelers from Italy and Iran, the two countries particularly hit by the epidemic, ” said the report.
The Chinese national was the only one of the four new infections that airport staff detected, said Suwannachai, adding that the other three discovered they were infected after a visit to the hospital on their own.
Suwannachai also said that there are 31 other patients currently receiving treatment for Covid-19, including one who’s in critical condition.
