2 ASEAN state heads to hold official visits in PH
MANILA, Philippines – Two ASEAN state heads are scheduled for official state visit in the Philippines next week ahead of the 30th ASEAN Summit, the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Wednesday, April 19.
Bruneian Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah and Indonesian President Joko Widodo are set to arrive in the country on April 27 and 28 respectively — just before the 30th ASEAN Summit on April 29 in Manila.
ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council Director-General for Operations Marciano Paynor Jr. said both ASEAN state heads will hold bilateral meetings with President Duterte.
Some of the expected topics to be raised in the said bilateral talks are; sea lanes security, cross-border traffic and patrol, and agriculture.
Widodo is also expected to join Duterte in the launch of a shipping service in Davao City on April 30, CNN Philippines reported.
