Thailand unfurled the country’s largest flag ever to commemorate its 100th anniversary

Phitsanulok – The largest Thailand flag ever made; the tricolour flag which shows five horizontal stripes in the colours red, white, blue, white and red, with the central blue stripe being twice as wide as each of the other four, was unfurled at Phitsanulok University’s football pitch on Thursday morning.

Phitsanulok Deputy Governor Thatchai Sisuwan and Third Army Region commander Lt-Gen Vichak Siribansop sang Thailand’s national anthem at 8 am together with state officials and local people to celebrate the historic anniversary.

Weighing 600 kilograms, the flag requires 300 people to completely unfold it.

The largest Thai flag ever will soon be a landmark signifying national unity in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Saen district, flying from a 189-metre tall pole.
