The strong high-pressure area covering northern and central parts of Thailand including the capital and its surrounding areas is the reason for the drop of temperature, which will be experienced until Friday.
This week is going to be the coldest weather of the year according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
In its fifth warning issued yesterday, the Thai Meteorological Department announced of the cold spell that is going to blanket upper Thailand, with frost expected to occur in mountaintops of North and Northeast.
The department also said that temperatures will drop by 2-3C from tomorrow until Thursday.
Meanwhile, the South is expected to experience heavy rain and rough seas starting today until tomorrow. The waves could reach to 2-3 metres high in the lower Gulf of Thailand.
